IO Interactive has announced its decision to delay the release date for 007 First Light, which is in development for Nintendo Switch 2.
Originally scheduled for release on 27 March 2026, the upcoming third-person action-adventure game will now be coming out on 27 May 2026.
“Today, we are sharing an update regarding 007 First Light, as we have decided to move the game’s release by two months, to the 27th of May 2026,” IO Interactive CEO Hakan Abrak shared in an update posted on social media.
“007 First Light is our most ambitious project to date, and the team has been fully focused on delivering an unforgettable James Bond experience, bringing together breathtaking action, globe-trotting, spycraft, gadgets, car chases, and more. As an independent developer and publisher, this decision allows us to ensure the experience meets the level of quality you players deserve on day one.
“The game is progressing well and is fully playable from beginning to end, so these additional two months will allow us to further polish and refine the experience, ensuring we deliver the strongest possible version at launch. We’re confident this sets 007 First Light up for long-term success, and we sincerely appreciate the patience and continued support we’ve received ever since we revealed the game. We look forward to sharing more updates regarding 007 First Light in early 2026. Thank you again for your support.”
For the first time ever, in 007 First Light, you will be able to experience James Bond’s ascent at MI6 from a young 26-year-old recruit into a full-fledged spy. The promising yet rebellious Royal Navy air crewman is recruited into MI6, his sharp instincts and heroism in combat propelling him into the agency’s rigorous training program for the once-revered, and newly resurrected, elite 00 section.
The third-person action-adventure game looks to immerse you in the exotic and dangerous world of espionage captured in the films, with Bond’s adventures taking you all around the globe, where you will come face to face with allies and foes, while choosing how to overcome obstacles and challenges – whether it be with brute force, cunning guile, or charming wit.
In his ascent to becoming 007, you will choose how to utilise Bond’s unique set of skills in combat, relationships, and the latest in Q’s technological gadgetry. On that journey, you will meet familiar faces like M, Q, and Moneypenny, and be introduced to new characters like Bond’s mentor John Greenway, the mysterious Isola, and a whole new cast of villains.
007 First Light will be released at retail and digitally on the Nintendo eShop for Nintendo Switch 2 on 27 May 2026.
