The Wii U recently enjoyed a healthy spike in hardware sales across the UK, thanks in large part to the arrival of The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD.

That jump was by more than 685 percent, a significant achievement in itself despite not providing any indication as to how many consoles it actually helped to shift.

“We have long believed that software sells hardware and it’s great to see that reaffirmed this week with an uplift of Wii U hardware sales to coincide with the launch of The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD,” explained Nintendo UK’s head of consumer marketing James Honeywell.

The company will surely be hoping that such success continues in the lead up to Christmas, with three new Wii U hardware bundles with exclusives such as Sonic Lost World, Wii Party U, and Super Mario 3D World, Wii Fit U lined up for release.
