Within today’s Nintendo Direct, Eiji Aonuma announced that the company are currently developing two The Legend of Zelda titles for Wii U.

He explained that the development team had been experimenting with the varying visual styles used within previous entries, alongside teasing high definition images of The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker.

This was soon followed by confirmation that Nintendo would release The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD later this year.

Aonuma expressed their desire to “rethink the conventions of Zelda,” moving away from the fact that the player always completes dungeons in a certain order and has to play alone.

This second game for Wii U will take longer for the development team to complete, so Aonuma has asked for patience from fans.
