After suffering technical issues that hampered most of the day, Niantic was able to end Pokémon GO Fest on a positive note.
Trainers worldwide helped to unlock the Mystery Challenge for those in attendance at Grant Park in Chicago, Illinois, which will see Lugia now appear in Raid Battles around the world at some point in the next 48 hours.
Perhaps due to the continued issues in accessing Pokémon GO, those that successfully checked in at Pokémon GO Fest will automatically receive Lugia in their account.
The Psychic and Flying-type Legendary Pokémon was introduced in Pokémon Gold and Pokémon Silver, with Lugia known as the guardian of the seas and the trio master of the Legendary birds Articuno, Zapdos and Moltres.
Niantic was also keeping track of how much each team contributed to the Mystery Challenge. Team Instinct came in third and Team Valor in second, meaning that Team Mystic caught the most Pokémon for today’s overall tally.
That means that players can now look out for Articuno to take on in Raid Battles, too.
