84 new and returning stages had been spotted in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate since it was first shown in great detail at E3 2018, but we now know that a staggering 103 stages will appear in the Nintendo Switch exclusive.

While not every stage will return, game director Masahiro Sakurai explained that past stages have been given a visual overhaul and tweaks, with new stages coming in Dracula’s Castle from the Castlevania series, New Donk City Hall from Super Mario Odyssey and more.

“If we exclude Battlefield, Final Destination and Big Battlefield, we’d have exactly 100,” Sakurai explains. “Every stage can also be transformed into both Battlefield and Omega forms, so the total number of stages is actually more than 300! All of these stages can be played in 8-player battles. And they are all available from the beginning.”

There is an option to turn off Stage Hazards, such as environment changes or an enemy appearance, and the stages have been placed in order of when they were first introduced. There is also a new Stage Morph option, where you can pick two stages on the stage select menu that will randomly transform between each other while in battle.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate will release exclusively for Nintendo Switch worldwide on December 7th.
