After SteamWorld Tower Defense, SteamWorld Dig, and SteamWorld Heist, Image & Form Games have started work on spinning their robotic universe in a new direction.

It appears that their next project will be SteamWorld Quest, revealed after the developer was successful in applying for a grant from the European Commission’s Education, Audiovisual and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA).

These grants are awarded to “develop projects with highly innovative content and quality gameplay, which will have the potential to circulate throughout Europe and beyond.” It is hoped that the support scheme will help “improve the competitiveness of the European video games industry,” as well as help developers retain their intellectual property.

When SteamWorld Quest was spotted, Image & Form’s community manager Julius Guldbog responded: “Look at that! We’ll share more about our next game when the time is right. It’s so deep in its initial stage that there’s no point in talking about it.”

SteamWorld Collection, which bundles SteamWorld Dig and SteamWorld Heist, will soon release alongside Fast Racing NEO as the first games within the new Nintendo eShop Selects range.
