Alongside announcing the Splatoon 2 Global Testfire event, Nintendo has confirmed that Splatoon 2 will be compatible with the Splatoon amiibo collection.
Whether that be the Callie amiibo, Marie amiibo, Blue Inkling Boy amiibo, Green Inkling Girl amiibo, Green Inkling Squid amiibo, Orange Inkling Girl amiibo, Orange Inkling Squid amiibo or Purple Inkling Boy amiibo, each will work with the sequel although Nintendo has not specified what they will unlock just yet.
In Splatoon, amiibo rewarded players with challenge missions that allowed them to earn exclusive Inkling gear on completion and the chance to watch in-game concert performances by the Squid Sisters in Inkopolis Plaza.
Splatoon 2 will release exclusively on Nintendo Switch in Summer 2017.
