Nintendo has revealed that Shulk and Fiora from the original Xenoblade Chronicles will appear as Blades in the Xenoblade Chronicles 2 Challenge Battle Mode, which will release tomorrow.

Those that chose to buy the Expansion Pass were promised the chance to “face powerful enemies in a new challenge mode,” and that was first shown today on Nintendo Treehouse: Live E3 @ 2018.

In the Challenge Battle Mode, you must overcome the odds to complete battles within a given time limit. The enemies that you defeat will earn you Ether Cubes that, as you accumulate them, will reward you with in-game bonuses like unlockable costumes.

Nintendo adds that the mode will have “some minor story elements that show the characters in a new light,” with the Titan Battleship Assault being the example that was shown on the stream.

You play as Jin in this Special Battle and must defeat 100 enemies on the Titan Battleship in as quick a time as possible, and presents the chance to see a story event early in the main game from his perspective.

The news comes after Xenoblade Chronicles 2: Torna – The Golden Country was revealed as the Nintendo Switch exclusive’s “brand new story content” yesterday, that will let you explore a new Titan, the Kingdom of Torna, as you meet new heroes in a story that takes place 500 years before the events witnessed in Xenoblade Chronicles 2.

The Xenoblade Chronicles 2 Challenge Battle Mode will release as part of the Expansion Pass tomorrow in North America at 10pm PT along with software update version 1.5.0.

For those in Europe, Australia and New Zealand, that means that you can expect it to become available on Friday.
