After Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Bayonetta 2, Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze, Hyrule Warriors: Definitive Edition and Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker, it appears that New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe is the next Wii U game that Nintendo plans to port to Nintendo Switch.

Comic Book reports that, from sources connected to Nintendo of Europe, this will come with New Super Mario Bros. U and New Super Luigi U, with the suggestion that Nintendo has also worked to add new content that remains unknown at this point.

The rumours about the port had first surfaced before E3 2018, and, while it was not revealed in the Nintendo Direct: E3 2018 presentation, there is the expectation that it is one of the unannounced Nintendo Switch games that Nintendo plans to release this holiday season.

Given that it is the sixth Wii U port to come to the portable home console, it’s understandable that Nintendo instead chose to focus on Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Super Mario Party, Fortnite, Fire Emblem: Three Houses, Dragon Ball FighterZ and Xenoblade Chronicles 2: Torna – The Golden Country. We can expect, then, that if the rumour holds true, an announcement is likely to come in the next Nintendo Direct.
