Insider King Zell has shared on ResetEra that Pikmin 3 will hit Nintendo Switch this year, and, according to our own sources, it will be released under the name Pikmin 3 Deluxe.
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Bayonetta 2, Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze, Hyrule Warriors: Definitive Edition, Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker, and New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe have all been given a new lease of life on the portable home console, but it seems that Nintendo aren’t stopping there with their Wii U ports.
In Pikmin 3, you play as three explorers – Alph, Brittany, and Charlie – and must command a legion of adorable Pikmin in your fight for survival.
You must use the tiny, curious creatures to solve puzzles that you come across in the alien-safari environments, as well as defeat dangerous predators, and recover food needed to save your planet.
It is believed that Pikmin 3 Deluxe will include the downloadable stages that were released as add-on content to the main game, but what remains unclear are the control options.
Pikmin 3, as with the New Play Control! versions on Wii, had let you use a Wii Remote and Nunchuk combination to allow for pointer controls. That, for many, was the best way to play, although whether it can be replicated with the Joy-Con is unknown.
Whatever happens, it still leaves the question as to what is happening with Pikmin 4 seeing as, in September 2015, Shigeru Miyamoto had shared that it was “actually very close to completion.”
Just like failed GameCube games saw new life on Wii, none of this is new. They take million sellers on Wii U, and release them again on Switch.
