Rainy Frog to publish western Nintendo eShop titles in Japan

Rainy Frog, a recently founded company based in Kawasaki City, is looking to help western developers work around a Nintendo eShop restriction that sees publishers only able to release games through the service in their native country.

Their website highlights their primary goals as “publishing foreign games in Japan” whilst also “assisting Japanese companies to release video games in Europe and North America.” Company director Anthony Byus is the man behind everything, explaining that both the Wii U and 3DS Nintendo eShop services are firmly in their sights.

The company’s first release in Japan will be Spin the Bottle: Bumpie’s Party by KnapNok Games next month, although this will be localised under the name Waiwai! Minna De Challenge. Targeted toward a more adult western audience, in Japan advertising will be made “more appealing to the family-orientated Japanese Wii U market.”

Their second Nintendo eShop release in Japan is to be confirmed next week.
