Pokémon GO Solstice Event Increases Fire And Ice-Type Encounters

With summer approaching in the Northern Hemisphere and winter approaching in the Southern Hemisphere, Niantic has announced that they will mark the solstices with a Fire-type and Ice-type event in Pokémon GO.

From 1pm PDT on Tuesday 13th June – 1pm PDT on Tuesday 20th June 2017, Trainers will encounter more Charmander, Cyndaquil, Growlithe, Houndour, Ponyta, Swinub, Vulpix, and their Evolutions, as well as Sneasel, Magmar, Cloyster, and other Fire types and Ice types.

Trainers can receive huge XP bonuses for successfully catching Pokémon with Nice, Great, and Excellent Throws, as well as Curveballs and First Throws. There’s also the chance to earn more XP for hatching eggs, with Lucky Eggs receiving a 50 percent discount.
