Nintendo of America has shared that the Nintendo Switch remained the best-selling current-generation console in September, the third straight month that it has remained in pole position across the United States.

That data comes from NPD Group who have tracked that the portable home console has been on top in five of the seven months since launch, having sold more than two million units in the United States alone.

Nintendo adds that combined, the Nintendo 3DS, Super Nintendo Entertainment System: Super NES Classic Edition and Nintendo Switch account for two-thirds of the hardware sales in September.

Nintendo Switch scores three best-selling individual games of the month with Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle at No. 7, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild at No. 10, and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe at No. 11, with Nintendo 3DS exclusive Metroid: Samus Returns game at No. 8.

Nintendo will now look to build on that success with Fire Emblem Warriors, Super Mario Odyssey, DOOM, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, and Xenoblade Chronicles 2 which are all releasing in the run-up to the holiday season.
