Nintendo Switch Lite Revealed For Release On September 20th

Nintendo has revealed the Nintendo Switch Lite, a compact, lightweight console that’s dedicated to playing in handheld mode.

The Nintendo Switch Lite will be available in three different colors at launch – yellow, gray and turquoise – with a carrying case and screen protector set to also be released.

With integrated controls and a smaller design, the console has a 5.5-inch touch screen and a battery life that will last approximately 3 – 7 hours.

The revision does not have a kickstand and cannot be placed in a Nintendo Switch Dock as it does not support video output to a TV, meaning that it won’t come with either the peripheral or an HDMI cable.

The controls also won’t also won’t have HD Rumble or an IR Motion Camera – meaning that you can’t use Nintendo Labo, for example.

You can play all Nintendo Switch games that support handheld mode, but “some games will have restrictions” which will be listed on game packaging and on the Nintendo eShop.

“Adding Nintendo Switch Lite to the lineup gives gamers more color and price point options,” explains Nintendo of America President Doug Bowser. “Now consumers can choose the system that best suits how they like to play their favorite Nintendo Switch games.”

The Nintendo Switch Lite will release worldwide on September 20th priced at $199.99.
