Nintendo has launched an official website for Mario & Sonic at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, revealing how amiibo will be supported in the Nintendo 3DS version.

Once players have unlocked Champions Road, a compatible amiibo can be scanned to receive a costume that can be worn by your Mii character to improve their in-game stats for 24 hours. The compatible amiibo are confirmed to be as follows:

There are 270 Mii character costumes in total, and by training on Champions Road players will earn Training Points (TP) that will help level up your Mii and allow them to wear gear with a higher level.

These can be purchased by spending apples and melons at the Costume and Gear Shops, which can be earned through training, competing in a Full Marathon, walking a specified number of steps within a given time limit, or by successfully completing Bonus Challenges.

Mario & Sonic at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games launches exclusively for Nintendo 3DS in Japan on February 18th, releasing in Europe and North America at a later date.
