Having been without a release date, Nintendo have announced that Kirby and the Rainbow Paintbrush will launch across Europe on May 8th.

The Wii U exclusive, which stars characters and environments carefully modelled out of clay, is a successor to Kirby: Power Paintbrush on Nintendo DS. Players will guide and guard Kirby by drawing lines on the Wii U GamePad to create rainbow ropes, in the cuddly pink hero’s quest to return colour back to Dream Land. Drawing Rainbow Rope loops will grant Kirby a quick speed boost, whereas they can also be used to block waterfalls, protect him from enemies and solve puzzles.

Three more players can join the fun as Waddle Dees through using Wii Remote controllers, whereas Kirby, King Dedede and Meta Knight amiibo may be scanned once per day to provide power ups. The Kirby amiibo provides unlimited Star Dash within a stage, the King Dedede amiibo gives Kirby a hat that will grant six health bars, whereas the Meta Knight amiibo will see him don a mask that lets Kirby fast dash through weaker enemies.

Kirby and the Rainbow Paintbrush will launch exclusively for Wii U in Europe on May 8th, and has already launched in Japan and North America as Kirby and the Rainbow Curse.
