Ken Watanabe has joined the cast of Detective Pikachu, the live-action Pokémon movie that will already star Justice Smith, Kathryn Newton, and Ryan Reynolds as the investigative electric mouse.

Hollywood Reporter reports that Watanabe, who many will have seen in films such as Godzilla, Inception, Batman Begins, Memoirs of a Geisha, and his Oscar-nominated role in The Last Samurai, will play a character in Detective Pikachu called Detective Yoshida.

The movie, which will start shooting in London this month, will see the father of the character played by Justice Smith become kidnapped, which will see him team up with Detective Pikachu in order to find him. Kathryn Newton will play a sassy journalist who will help them in their quest.

Earlier this month, The Pokémon Company announced plans to release the Detective Pikachu game as a Nintendo 3DS exclusive, and a Detective Pikachu amiibo that is nearly double the height of a standard amiibo.
