There are multiple villages for you to visit in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, but a more exciting prospect is the chance to buy your own house.

This opportunity crops up from the side quest Hylian Homeowner, which is received from Bolson in Hateno Village – – the luminary, president, architect, and design lead of Bolson Construction. He can be located south from the Myahm Agana Shrine, where he and his men are working hard to demolish a vacant house near Firly Pond.

The villagers had met, argued, voted and ultimately decided that it was best to tear it down, but Link can exclaim that he would be happy to buy it. “Whoa, get a load of young moneybags… Just wants to ‘buy’ it, huh?” Bolson responds, before revealing that demolition costs come in at an eye-watering 50,000 rupees.

With Link reeling at such a price, Bolson decides to cut you a deal to sell the house for 3,000 rupees and 30 wood bundles. This will take some time to accumulate, but won’t be too worrisome as you progress later in the game. Talus will always remain the greatest source of income, as, once destroyed, they will drop gemstones that can be sold to shops.

Once accumulated, return to Bolson and hand over what he asks. Even though his special price has been paid, players can choose to make more 100 rupee payments to Bolson in order to refurbish your newfound home. This will let you install a bed, door, sign and lighting as well as weapon mounts, bow mounts and shield mounts, and to plant flowers and trees. Altogether, that will cost you another 1,400 rupees in total.

It will all be worth it as, aside from seeing Link make his mark on the property ladder, players can use his new home to sleep in the bed for free to restore health and to mount weapons, bows and shields that they no longer want to carry for safe keeping.
