Diablo III Eternal Collection Data Mine Uncovers Treasure Goblin And Demon amiibo References

Blizzard Entertainment hasn’t talked about how amiibo work in Diablo III Eternal Collection, and, with the award-winning action role-playing game out on Nintendo Switch this week, data miners have moved to uncover what the character figures do.

According to Reddit user justMaku, the game will support three types of amiibo: Default (or Generic) amiibo, Treasure Goblin amiibo and Demon amiibo.

When a Default (or Generic) amiibo or a Treasure Goblin amiibo are scanned, a portal will spawn that leads to an undisclosed location – as these are controlled by the server and, therefore, unable to be data mined. You will need to wait for the 22-hour cooldown to pass before scanning another amiibo.

Whereas the Demon amiibo will spawn a powerful demon on the map that, once defeated, may reward you with powerful in-game gear. For these, you will need to wait for the 45 minutes cooldown to pass before scanning another amiibo.

Whether Blizzard has simply categorised the amiibo that are currently available or will announce a Treasure Goblin amiibo – potentially at BlizzCon 2018 this week – is unclear.

Diablo III Eternal Collection will release for Nintendo Switch worldwide on November 2nd and is now available to pre-load on the Nintendo eShop.
