Catch Pokémon Gold And Silver At Retailers Across Europe In Shiny Packaged Versions

Nintendo of Europe has announced that they will release Pokémon Gold and Pokémon Silver download codes at retail next month.

These will be made available in “shiny packaged versions,” that are sure to be popular with collectors, fans that have suddenly seen their nostalgia go into overdrive, and, perhaps, even those that didn’t have a chance to play them the first time around.

Pokémon Gold and Pokémon Silver launched in Japan on 21st November 1999 and were the first titles to be developed for the Game Boy Color. Letting players explore the Johto region, they introduced 100 Pokémon, held items, and real-time events.

Now to soon see release on the Virtual Console service, they will be compatible with the wireless communication features on the Nintendo 3DS – meaning that you can enjoy Link Trades and Link Battles without the need for any cables this time around!

The Time Capsule function will also work, and they will be compatible with Pokémon Bank – presenting a chance to transfer the Pokémon that you catch into Nintendo 3DS exclusives Pokémon Ultra Sun and Pokémon Ultra Moon later in the year.

Pokémon Gold and Pokémon Silver will release exclusively for Nintendo 3DS worldwide on September 22nd, at retail and digitally on the Nintendo eShop.
