Qbby is back to square up to his biggest challenge yet in BYE-BYE BOXBOY!, with HAL Laboratory throwing their cuboid hero at more 2D side-scrolling levels in his quirky, minimalist world.

The unassuming square-shaped character will have more than 180 brain-teasing levels to conquer spread across four planets, where, on each planet, he will encounter a Qbaby – a small lifeform who, once helped, will reward Qbby with the power to create new box types.

This empowers his ability to create a string of boxes out of thin air, now being able to destroy walls with a bombox, fly into the air with a box rocket, teleport himself with a warp box or use a remote box to reach distance points, all of which will help him solve the new puzzle possibilities that this opens up.

There are also five unlockable Challenge Worlds that each impose their own gameplay restrictions to wrack your brains over, while amiibo functionality will let those with the Kirby Collection or Super Smash Bros. Collection amiibo unlock costumes to dress Qbby as Kirby, Meta Knight, Waddle Dee or King Dedede.

Those with BOXBOY! save data can transfer an additional 10 costumes across, while BOXBOXBOY! save data will unlock another 8 costumes. These will include the Rabbit, which will allow Qbby to jump higher, and the Wizard, which will let him conjure an extra box.

Those with save data from both games will unlock a Qucy costume, which will unlock a distinctive visual style to play in reminiscent of the Game Boy.

BYE-BYE BOXBOY! will release on the Nintendo eShop for Nintendo 3DS on March 23rd, priced at £4.49 (€4.99). There is also a BOXBOY! series demo with a selection of levels from BOXBOY!, BOXBOXBOY! and BYE-BYE BOXBOY!, which is now available to download for free on the Nintendo eShop.
