Aurelien Regard Games has revealed that AWAY: Journey to the Unexpected will see release on Nintendo Switch, a colourful first-person adventure game that promises to combine action, negotiation, and rogue-lite elements.

That adventure will “mix the soft, cartoony look of 2D animation with a 3D first person gameplay,” presenting an experience that is expected to last around 10 hours.

The strange characters that you meet on your journey can be recruited as allies and played in first-person, as long as you can come up with the right answers to convince them to join your team.

“I’ve been a long-time fan of first person games, but most of the time, you’re either facing realistic war or very experimental universes,” developer Aurelien Regard explains.

“I’ve been waiting for a long time to play this type of game in a different, colourful setting, filled with joyful or wacky characters you can interact with.

“Also, sometimes I really miss the silliness of the 90’s anime shows we grew up with in Europe. This is how this project started, and I hope others will enjoy this experience as much as we enjoy creating it!”

AWAY: Journey To The Unexpected will see release on the Nintendo eShop for Nintendo Switch worldwide.
