Hearthstone On Nintendo Switch Is A “Discussion Worth Having”

Blizzard had once seemingly teased that their fast-paced strategy card game Hearthstone was to deal a hand on Nintendo Switch.

Sadly, it turned out that they were simply referencing Nintendo of America’s meme-sparking snap of Mario peering from behind a curtain, but, given the console’s portable nature and touch screen, many have wondered if it will eventually be ported across.

When the Daily Express asked whether there had been any discussion around whether it remained a possibility, Hearthstone principal game designer Mike Donais replied: “I personally haven’t talked about it but I’m more focused on card design. Hearthstone is available on iPads and phones, so it’s a good discussion worth having.”

He added that, given the multiple control schemes on Nintendo Switch, if Hearthstone did come to the console they would need to accomodate for them.

Given that the game was developed using the Unity engine – which Nintendo has worked hard to make compatible with Nintendo Switch – it certainly sounds like the idea hasn’t been ruled out entirely just yet.
