The Legend of Zelda series producer Eiji Aonuma had once revealed that there would be a secret ending in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, hinting that it would be unlocked once players “meet certain criteria.”

For those that are interested in discovering it, players must first unlock all 13 captured memories by travelling to locations that Zelda had specified to help Link recover his memories from the events that had happened 100 years ago.

Once these have all been recovered, you simply need to complete the game. After defeating Calamity Ganon at Hyrule Castle, the credits will roll and the secret ending will play directly after the normal post-credit cutscene.

We have now spent more than 100 hours with Breath of the Wild, concluding in our review: “Breath of the Wild delivers the adventure of a lifetime, and it is exciting that it will thrive on shared experiences around the way that everyone chose to interact with the world before them.

“We have long awaited the day that Ocarina of Time was dethroned, and here we have a renewed blueprint that will similarly have a momentous impact on where the series is steered next.”

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is now available exclusively on Nintendo Switch and Wii U worldwide.
