The Pokémon Company International has announced all-new competitive events for the 2017 Play! Pokémon season.

This introduces two International Championships that are open to all players worldwide, which will provide another chance for Pokémon Trading Card Game and video game players to compete, win prizes, and earn Championship Points.

The Pokémon European International Championships will take place between Friday 9th – 11th December 2016 at ExCeL London, United Kingdom. This will be the first chance to battle in a sanctioned event using Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon. Pokémon TCG players will also have their first chance to battle with the Pokémon TCG: XY – Evolutions expansion, which launches later this year.

The Pokémon Regional Championships will start this October with events across Europe and North America which, as with the International Championships, will be open to Pokémon TCG and video game players regardless of their country of origin.

Participating hobby shops around the world will also help to expand local Pokémon TCG League Cup events, while video game players can look to attend the returning Premier Challenge and Midseason Showdown events.

Earned Championship Points at all events will help players to secure a potential invitation and Travel Award to the Pokémon World Championships, which will take place in August 2017 in Anaheim, California. Players are also competing for a piece of a cumulative prize pool worth more than $5 million across all Pokémon Championship Series events.
