Nintendo NX remains to be an enigma, but only Nintendo is to blame for how little we really know about their next-gen “dedicated game platform.”

While many are left hoping that the anticipated reveal will come in September, trusted rumour-monger Emily Rogers has once again shared rumours that she has heard relating to the console.

This saw her corroborate rumours that the detachable controllers will support motion control and force feedback, add that the prototype had a 6.2-inch 720p multi-touch screen, that the dock station has two USB ports, and backed claims that Game Freak are developing for the console.

The rumours that Rogers has shared are as follows:

1) This [Let’s Play Video Games] article about NX’s detachable controllers supporting force feedback and motion controls has truth.

2) NX prototype had a 6.2 inch 720p multi-touch touchscreen. Unknown if final product’s screen size will be larger / smaller than prototype.

3) Prototype for dock station has USB ports. I heard 2 USB ports, but I don’t know if this number will change in the final product.

4) MCV‘s report about Game Freak being involved with NX has some truth to it.

These are all rumors for now. Not facts. Just things that I’ve been hearing down the grapevine. Could be right, could be wrong.

For comparison’s sake, the Nintendo 3DS XL has a 4.8-inch upper screen, the Wii U GamePad has a 6.2-inch resistive touchscreen, while Sony’s PlayStation Vita sports a 5-inch multi-touch capacitive touchscreen.

Rogers later expanded on this in a blog post, adding: “I heard that the NX’s touchscreen in the prototypes / development kits had 720p resolution. It’s unknown whether the NX’s portable touchscreen can provide better resolutions than 720p. Reminder: Nintendo is trying to balance performance with battery life on this device.

“The Wii U supports 1080p, 1080i, 720p, 480p and 480i. The NX is at least two times more powerful than the Wii U — if not more.”

She went on to outline how many first-party Wii U exclusives run at 720p, with the only discrepancy being Super Smash Bros. for Wii U which outputs at 1080p.
