Ubisoft Confirm Nintendo NX Support

Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot has confirmed that the publisher will support Nintendo NX, adding that “Nintendo is one of the best partners in the world.”

Just Dance 2017 has already been announced for the “dedicated game platform,” but it remains to be seen what other projects Ubisoft will bring to the console.

“You can expect we’ll support Nintendo,” Guillemot shared with Game Informer, when asked if Ubisoft would have games ready for Nintendo NX’s launch window. “Nintendo is one of the best partners in the world.”

The interview moved on to discuss Wii U, and their experiences in supporting it. That will notably be remembered for the sudden Rayman Legends delay, but saw the publisher release games such as ZombiU, Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag and Watch_Dogs on the console. But with slow console sales, Ubisoft even went as far as to shelve Wii U exclusive Know Your Friends.

“We could see it wasn’t selling as fast as expected, so we reorganised around other platforms,” Guillemot admitted. “With the Wii U, we were able to relaunch Rayman 2D. It was a good thing for the company and the brand and its fans. If you remember, it was supposed to be Wii U exclusive, but we made it multi-platform when we saw it wasn’t selling fast enough.

“The Wii U has done quite well. It’s still a Nintendo machine with lots of great franchises, and we’ve sold lots of copies of Just Dance on it.”

Ubisoft EMEA executive director Alain Corre recently shared that Nintendo NX has the chance to “recapture” the Wii audience, while Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment has also confirmed that they will support Nintendo NX.

  1. Nx is cartridge based – I just hope these comments are aware of that. It would be a shame for developers to move away from NX if doesnt have specifications like current gen future gen consoles

    1. Nothing has been confirmed at this point what sort of media the console will have. You’re talking about it like it’s fact. Unless you have an earlier source backing this up, please correct yourself.

  2. No he did say about Wii U and now this ? I will believe it when NX is success with many 3rd party support first!
