Our next adventure with Link was once promised to arrive in 2015, but Nintendo has announced a second delay meaning that The Legend of Zelda won’t see release until 2017.

Said to be the company’s only playable game at their E3 2016 booth, it has now been confirmed that Wii U and NX versions have been developed “in tandem.”

“The latest instalment in this classic series is scheduled to launch simultaneously for both Wii U and NX, and both versions of the game have been in development in tandem,” Nintendo has today shared. “Because developers need more time to polish the game, it will launch in 2017, but it will be the focus of Nintendo’s presence at E3.”

First shown at E3 2014, it is remarkable how little is known about what our next trek across Hyrule will involve. We had chance to take a second look at The Game Awards 2014, but haven’t heard much more about the iteration since.
