Nintendo UK has announced two new hires to the team, after seeing multiple high-profile departures from the company in the past year.

Matthias Hempfling joins as marketing and PR director and Kalpesh Tailor as head of communications, who have both moved across from Nintendo of Europe.

Hempfling had previously worked as senior European marketing manager at Nintendo of Europe, with the new role now seeing him look after all campaigns in the United Kingdom and report to Nintendo UK general manager Simon Kemp.

Tailor, who will report to Hempfling, had worked as senior European PR manager at Nintendo of Europe. Now overseeing all PR, social media and community activities for the United Kingdom, he will work with a team that is comprised of assistant PR manager Emma Bunce, social media and digital content manager Ashley Day and UK community manager James Bowden.

“With 2016 off to a dynamic start, we are delighted to have Matthias and Kalpesh join the UK team,” Nintendo UK general manager Simon Kemp shared with MCV. “Each brings not only an array of marketing and communications experience and Nintendo knowledge, but offer a fresh perspective on the UK market.”

Hempfling adds, “I’m looking forward to embracing the intricacies of the UK market and to be part of what I know to be a talented team.”

And Tailor closed, ”It is an incredibly exciting time to be with Nintendo UK, and having started my career based in the UK headquarters, I am very pleased to be returning. With so many great products and services on the horizon from Nintendo, I look forward to working with the team to deliver the magic that Nintendo is known for.”

2016 looks set to be a significant year of activity for Nintendo, with plans to launch multiple smart device applications and reveal Nintendo NX, their next “dedicated game platform.”
