We already knew that The Pokémon Company International planned to air a new TV commercial during Super Bowl 50, but they have let us see an extended version weeks in advance.

Made by Los Angeles-based creative agency Omelet, the advert was shot in Rio de Janeiro and looks to reflect the ambition, drive and training concepts that inspire every Pokémon Trainer.

There are plenty of hidden Pokémon references to discover, with the advert seemingly drumming up anticipation for Pokémon GO.

The advert is part of a yearlong campaign that celebrates 20 years since the first Pokémon games launched in Japan, within which more than 275 million games have been sold worldwide, 21.5 billion TCG cards were shipped to 74 countries, and the anime series has spanned 18 seasons.

“For 20 years, the Pokémon world has inspired fans to train hard and have fun,” comments J.C. Smith, The Pokémon Company International’s senior director of consumer marketing. “This ad is reflective of that passion, and I can’t think of a bigger stage to share this story than the Super Bowl.”

The new 30-second commercial will air during Super Bowl 50 on Sunday 7th February, but you can see an extended version below!
