Nintendo has announced Miitomo as their first game for the mobile market, referred to as a “free-to-start type communication application for smart devices.”

Tatsumi Kimishima discussed the application in the company’s corporate management briefing earlier today, revealing that it would be used to “push forward” their new My Nintendo membership service.

With the user as the main character, players are first required to create their own Mii. It will then ask you a variety of questions, which are then shared directly with any registered friends – Nintendo’s family-friendly nature having aimed that this be done “comfortably and securely.” The restriction being that a Friend must also register you before any communication can be shared.

The hope is that, through talking about topics that you may not otherwise discuss with your friends, it will help to “deepen friendly relationships” and discover more people to play games with.

Expected to have been released before the close of the year, Miitomo will now be released in March 2016. Nintendo will use the additional time will be used “to further improve the application and to optimise the overall smart device business.”
