Smash Bros. update adds Tourney mode and Replay Uploads on July 31st

Nintendo has announced that a free software update to Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and Nintendo 3DS will arrive on Friday 31st July.

As announced in June, this will add a Tourney Mode, Replay Uploads to YouTube and Hyrule Castle and Peach’s Castle stages from the Nintendo 64 version, as well as new Mii Fighter costumes.

Tourney Mode will comprise of two options in Community Tourneys, where players compete for the highest points in a certain amount of time, and regular Tourneys, which will run at select times and have more specific rules.

Mii Fighter Costumes are being steadily revealed daily, with today’s sharing that players can dress up as Donkey Kong Country’s King K. Rool and Fire Emblem: Awakening’s Chrom.

Masahiro Sakurai recently suggested that they will add “several more characters” to Nintendo’s mascot brawler before bringing the game’s downloadable content support to a close.
