Former Castlevania producer Koji Igarashi has turned to Kickstarter in seeking to secure funding for Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night.

This will mark his return to creating “a gothic, exploration-focused action platformer” that he is most celebrated for, welcomingly met by fans that have already pledged the modest $500,000 funding goal in under three hours.

While destined for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC, Igarashi immediately responded to those hoping that it would see release on Nintendo’s systems within the FAQ. Teasing that he’d “heard legends about a remarkable treasure hidden in the castle basement,” it’s unclear whether it will eventually make it to Wii U.

In having chosen to use Unreal Engine 4 it would appear unlikely, although he is working with Inti Creates who have plenty of experience with Nintendo 3DS development.

“Our budget left us with two options: Build the biggest, most beautiful game we can, or make sure it runs everywhere from the start,” Igarashi wrote on Kickstarter, directly referring to Nintendo.

“As things stand today, we can’t afford to create the two separate versions of this game that would be necessary to make it run on every console. That said, we’ve heard legends about a remarkable treasure hidden in the castle basement…”
