Nintendo tease Happy Mask Salesman’s return in a new Zelda game

Nintendo held their third Miiting on Miiverse ahead of the weekend, and, instead of a developer, this time around took the opportunity to talk to the The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask 3D‘s Happy Mask Salesman.

It’s an interesting discussion with the quirky character, in which they touch on the role that the masks play, Majora’s Mask’s shape, the Mirror Shield’s design, and that series producer Eiji Aonuma can’t get enough of the minigame in Clock Town’s post office.

But there’s one post that we can interpret as a playful tease, in which the Happy Mask Salesman remarks: “My, my… I’ve certainly been appearing all over the place these past few days! If this keeps going, maybe it wouldn’t be a stretch to expect me to pop up in a new Zelda game, too…? Ho, ho, ho… I’ve got some new masks, too, if you’d like to try them on… If I do make an appearance, I’m sure everyone will experience such happiness! Believe in your strengths… Believe… Ho, ho, ho…”

As to whether this appearance will be in The Legend of Zelda Wii U or rather another adventure perhaps in development for Nintendo 3DS is unclear, although we’re rather excited by the mystery surrounding such comments.

It was reported last week that Majora’s Mask 3D was the best-selling game throughout February in the United States according to the NPD Group, with Nintendo of America sharing that it had sold 515,000 copies across physical and digital distribution.
