Hironobu Sakaguchi to receive Lifetime Achievement Award at GDC 2015

Hironobu Sakaguchi is to shortly be honoured with a Lifetime Achievement Award for his contributions to the industry at the 15th Annual Game Developers Choice Awards, Gamasutra reports.

The creative visionary behind Square Enix’s Final Fantasy series, named in reference to Sakaguchi’s intention to leave game development if it didn’t prove a success. We all know how that turned out, but he did eventually make a decision end his tenure at the company.

He soon founded Mistwalker, with whom he would create Blue Dragon, Lost Odyssey, Wii exclusive The Last Story, and, more recently, addictive iOS card-based RPG Terra Battle.

The Game Developers Choice Awards ceremony will take place at San Francisco’s Moscone Convention Center on Wednesday 4th March 2015, and will be hosted by Tim Schafer from Double Fine Productions.
