Following in the footsteps of WarioWare: D.I.Y., Nintendo have announced plans to release Mario Maker on Wii U.
This will mark the first opportunity that players have had to create 2D levels styled on the 8-bit Super Mario Bros. or HD New Super Mario Bros. U, made possible by the Wii U GamePad.
Players use the controller’s touch screen to drag and drop elements wherever they wish, whether they be blocks, pipes, lifts or enemies. These can then be playtested straight away, and tweaked to perfection by hopping back into edit mode. It’s perhaps best to see it in action, so check the trailer below.
Mario Maker will release exclusively for Wii U in the first half of 2015.
