Satoru Iwata won’t attend E3 2014 due to health concerns

Nintendo’s global president Satoru Iwata has been advised not to travel overseas due to health concerns, meaning that he will not attend E3 2014 next week.

While he won’t be journeying to Los Angeles, Nintendo of America said that “it is business as usual” and that Iwata will continue to work at Nintendo’s headquarters in Kyoto, Japan.

“He’s been instructed by his physician not to travel overseas in the immediate future, and so he will not be making the trip to Los Angeles,” Nintendo of America’s vice president of corporate affairs Cindy Gordon clarified.

“Please understand that it is business as usual for Mr. Iwata, and he continues his normal duties as president of Nintendo Co., Ltd. while he remains in Japan. As always, he will be actively involved in all of Nintendo’s activities at the show.”

The company will this year broadcast a Nintendo Digital Event on Tuesday 10th June, expanding upon their previous efforts with the regular Nintendo Direct presentations.
