Pokémon series battle director Shigeki Morimoto has hinted that the arrival of Pokémon Omega Ruby and Pokémon Alpha Sapphire will “cause another huge change in the world of battling.”

The games follow Pokémon X and Y which introduced far more than 3D polygonal graphics last year, marking the introduction of Fairy-type Pokémon and Mega Evolution, as well as Sky Battles and Horde Encounters.

“It appears that Pokémon Omega Ruby and Pokémon Alpha Sapphire have been announced!” Morimoto exclaimed on Pokémon Global Link. “I think these games are going to cause another huge change in the world of battling. They will be released in November of this year, so until then you’ll still be battling using Pokémon X and Pokémon Y.”

Pokémon Omega Ruby and Pokémon Alpha Sapphire will release for 3DS worldwide in November.

  1. This is surprising. I don’t see how they could improve the battle screen unless the pokemon are made to look fierce or certain pokemon don’t like eachother such as Meowth and Snubbull snarling at eachother.

  2. I think it would be nice to have a random eye color for different pokemon in-battle. It would be a small change, but it could really give personality to each Pokemon.

  3. They should also make it to where the Pokemon don’t just fall through the ground when defeated.
