Nintendo UK have signalled their intent to go full throttle with their marketing campaign behind Mario Kart 8.
That’s already begun, with a social media strategy that hopes to make players nostalgic about classic moments when playing past entries in the Mario Kart series.
This will continue with pre-launch activity ahead of May 30th, and will continue throughout summer and into what they describe as “peak season”, which is the lead up to Christmas.
“To herald the launch of the most hotly anticipated Wii U title to date we will have marketing activity pre-launch as well as post-launch moving through the summer and into peak season”, Nintendo UK’s Mario brand manager Roger Langford explained to MCV.
“For the first time in HD, Mario Kart 8 introduces original course designs that highlight the game’s new anti-gravity feature, which allows players to race upside down or up vertical surfaces. This adds a whole new dimension to the racing”.
