Namco Bandai: Wii U not the right audience for Dark Souls II

Dark Souls II producer Takeshi Miyazoe has shared his belief that “the audience for the Wii U is a lot different from the audience for Dark Souls.”

Such comments came from a broader interview with EDGE, who questioned him as to whether either Namco Bandai or From Software ever considered porting the game to Wii U, to which Miyazoe pointedly responded “No.”

Asked why, he apparently temporarily burst into a fit of laughter, and continued: “Wii U never came up, and we never doubted that [decision] either. It was more of a company decision, so I wasn’t the one that decided this, but I think the audience for the Wii U is a lot different from the audience for Dark Souls.”

Which is a shame, considering how well suited the series is to really utilising the second screen experience that the Wii U GamePad provides. Placing markets on maps for reference, managing your inventory, and even Off-TV Play all point toward opportunities missed here.

  1. Typical of all devs. Telling customer what to buy and that Nintendo core audiences are different to other those on others machines. I think developers are idiots

  2. This is pathetic, i’m getting really tired of developers acting like a fanboy teenager. Port your damn games to the Wii U, the audience isn’t there because NONE of you will put a single game on the system. Unbelievable.. Dev’s are screwing over the Wii U non-stop.
