As the dust settles on Cologne’s annual games industry trade fair, the organisers of gamescom 2013 had plenty to celebrate.

With Microsoft and Sony placing their next-generation consoles into the hands of consumers for the first time, the show attracted 340,000 visitors – a 23 percent rise compared to last year. Attendees flocked in from 88 differing countries, eager to try out the software that exhibitors had placed throughout the Koelnmesse’s 140,000 square metre expanse.

“This was games entertainment and business in a new dimension,” Koelnmesse’s Gerald Böse commented. “The gamescom 2013 in Cologne has clearly underlined its position as the largest games trade fair.

“As organisers of the fair, we are delighted about this success and would like to thank the affiliated sponsor of the gamescom, the Federal Association of Interactive Entertainment Software (BIU) as well as the national and international exhibitors and partners.”
