Hopes for Call of Duty: Ghosts releasing on Wii U have today been dashed, with Infinity Ward executive producer Mark Rubin having shed further light on the possibility.

Rubin last week remarked to GameSpot, “That’s probably in the next-gen bin, but we’re not actually talking about Wii U yet. ‘Cause we want to keep it mysterious.”

Yet he’s now explained to GamesIndustry International that a Wii U version is far from guaranteed.

When asked further, he responded: “Ha! You know that’s funny, because I don’t even know the answer to that. I swear to God, I don’t. I was trying to say in the interview [that] I really don’t know and I’m not supposed to talk about it. I’m not supposed to talk about the fact that I don’t know.”

Asked as to how their next-generation vision for Activision’s globally successful franchise would perform on Wii U hardware, he continued: “I imagine [it could], yeah. If you look at the hardware specs, I think it would be more in line with 360 and PS3, but I’m not sure.

“There could be some things [in the hardware] that bump it up a little higher than that. I haven’t played with it enough to know. I have one at home, and I think it’s cool; I can’t stop playing ZombiU.”
