Noivern and Vivillon announced as Pokémon X and Y additions

Coinciding with today’s E3 2013 Nintendo Direct, two new critters have been revealed for Nintendo 3DS exclusives Pokémon X and Y.

First up is the sound wave Pokémon Noivern, a Flying and Dragon-type Pokémon that will apparently attack anything that ever wanders too close to it. It uses ultrasonic waves emitted from its ears to attack, which, whilst sounding fairly naff, can apparently “reduce large boulders to small pebbles.”

It uses the Normal-type move Boomburst, which emits an explosive sound wave that attacks enemies, and allies, with its resulting energy.

Next we have Vivillon, a Bug and Flying-type Pokémon, which is adorned with colourful decorative patterns on its wings that are used “to scatter its scales or create a strong wind to attack.” Struggle Bug is a Bug-type move available to it, that lowers the Special Attack of opponent’s Pokémon.

Nintendo 3DS exclusives Pokémon X and Y will launch worldwide on October 12th.
